PLACEMENT
Placement
We work with volunteer educators in the main cities of the country and in rural sectors where educational centers have more needs and deficiencies of teaching, such as only having one teacher for all primary levels, lack of didactic material, etc.
Before deciding for a volunteer position, please consider:
a) Your professional education.
b) The area in which you wish to work as a volunteer.
c) The location of the educational center where you would like to work as a volunteer: urban or rural area.
d) The duration of time you are available to work with us as an volunteer educator.
a) Volunteering as a language teacher can be organized for a minimum period of 2 weeks in either a language school located in an urban or rural location.
b) The minimum period of volunteering as a language teacher in a formal educational center is 3 months.
c) The minimum period of volunteering in a kindergarten, elementary school, or high school is 3 months, but the 10-month period of the school calendar is strongly preferred.
- A school term from kindergarten to the senior year of high school is 10 months.
- The Andes – Amazon scholar calendar runs from September 1 to June 30.
- The Coast cycle runs from April 01 to January 31
d) The minimum period of voluntary work as a university professor is the 4 to 5 months the semester spans.
- Generally, a semester at an Ecuadorian university runs from April 1 to August 15 and from October 1 to February 15.
3.- Applications to work as a volunteer educator must sent to us from 2 months to 10 months before starting with the program.
a) In order to seriously apply to participate as an educational volunteer you must fill out our membership form and pay the fee to become a member of our educational foundation.
We do not accept incomplete applications or volunteers who have not previously met or complied with the membership requirement of our foundation.
b) If you prefer to volunteer personally here in Ecuador you must organize your own air travel coming to our country and provide us the complete information of your flight in our application form.
c) Once we have received your application form and your affiliation to our educational foundation, we will search for the appropriate educational establishment for your internship or volunteer work. After 2 weeks we will send you our complete confirmation including:
- Location of the educational center either in the urban or rural sector.
- Confirmation of the period of voluntary work.
- Name of the education center where you will volunteer.
- Assigned school level.
- Classrooms in which you will work.
- Class day and schedule (if available to date).
- Confirmation of your accommodation with a local family, if applicable, including all relevant details about the family.
