OUR PROGRAMS

Fundación Educativa Superior “FES” organizes educational volunteer programs throughout the Ecuadorian Education System with the collaboration of foreign professional educators, who contribute with pedagogical knowledge and modern techniques: to improve our national education system and to prepare our Ecuadorian students for a better future. With our help, Ecuadorian students will pursue a just, egalitarian, and developed society. The FES has also developed volunteer internship programs in education for those who wish to collaborate with education in Ecuador.

Due to national policy failures, our country’s natural and human resources have not been adequately utilized, and as a consequence, the country has experienced long years of unrealized potential from our resources, which plunged the inhabitants of this so rich country into unnecessary poverty.

The illiteracy rate in our country has dropped considerably in the last 10 years; but even still, 7 out of each 100 Ecuadorians still cannot read or write. This issue is more palpable in rural areas where the situation of extreme poverty is very high. According to the National Institute of Statistics and Census INEC, extreme poverty in rural regions is 17% while poverty is 43.8%; that is to say, a large part of the rural area lives in unworthy conditions.

In the urban areas the percentages of poverty are 25.5% while extreme poverty is 9.5%. This is because the government agencies have paid more attention to the main cities, forgetting the productive areas of the country where much of the human and material resources should be focused.
