VOLUNTEERING
TEACHING LANGUAGES
Teaching Languages
Ecuador is a country growing progressively, and learning a foreign language becomes an important requirement both in general for culture and as a determining factor for university studies in career fields where most of the academic material comes in a foreign language. Many parents and adults do not have the necessary resources to pay for language courses for themselves or for their children. Some public schools provide from 3 to 5 hours of foreign language per week, but the quality and motivation of these courses are insufficient to stimulate language skills.
To be a volunteer in this project, you don’t need to be a foreign language teacher; however, if you look for a volunteer position as an English teacher with FES, you must master or be a native speaker of English. Your motivation and interest in sharing your skills will be very helpful, and you could be a volunteer that helps improve the future of your foreign language students.
All skills are welcome to teach a new language; if you have a preference for working at specific ages or with any particular activity please let us know!
You will receive assistance from a coordinator before entering the project and during the development of your volunteer work program.
