EDUCATIVE TOUR
Ecuador Educative Tour 12 Days/11 Nights
The best way to discover our wonderful country and at the same time get to know the national educational system, visit some educative centers located along our Andes mountain range, interact with students and teachers, look at the class areas and perhaps work as an educative volunteer for a few hours during the tour, will be participating in this program prepared for educators.
Along the Andes mountain range you will see beautiful snow-capped mountains such as Cayambe, Cotopaxi volcano, El Chimborazo, etc., and permanent green mountains, agricultural centers, indigenous communities that will open their doors to show you their culture, gastronomy and traditions.
Itinerary
Day 1: City tour in Quito – Mitad del Mundo
Quito is considered as one of the most beautiful cities in the world with the best-preserved colonial helmet on the continent, the first city to be reognized by UNESCO in 1978 as a World Cultural Heritage of the Humanity, its cobbled streets, republican houses, picturesque squares, and large churches will take you to a city that survives in its splendor through time. In Quito you find the equator line, dividing the northern and southern hemispheres.
Day 2: Teleférico de Quito – trip to Otavalo
The Quito cable car is one of the highest in South America rising to a height of 3947 masl and with an 18-minute trip we will reach the foothills of the sleeping volcano known as Ruco Pichincha, it has a spectacular panoramic view of the Andes Mountains. Otavalo has the most famous indigenous market from all Latin America, colorful textiles, handmade crafts, reflecting their identity, customs, traditions.
Day 3: Visit an educative institution & Peguche Waterfall
We will spend our morning visiting an educative institution associated to our Educative Foundation, we will learn about installations, size of classes, number of students per class, facilities, etc. After lunch we will walk to the Waterfall of Peguche, recognized as a sacred place where during its main festivals the indigenous people perform their purification ceremonies bathing in this waterfall at midnight.
Day 4: From Otavalo to Machachi, turing the Andes
After a well-deserved rest and a delicious breakfast in Otavalo, we will spend our morning visiting an educative institution associated to our Educative Foundation. We will have lunch in Otavalo and then head towards Machachi, a town located in the middle of the Andes mountain range surrounded by mountains, volcanoes, and covered with large areas of crops that provide many families with organic food.
Day 5: Latacunga – Chugchilán – Toachi river canyon
After a wonderful night and a splendid sunrise we will get our breakfast and will continue with our amazing trip towards the Andean town of Latacunga and then to Chugchilan, a small isolated town located in the middle of the mountains where it awaits us beautiful landscapes like the canyon the Toachi river.
Day 6: Horseback riding from Chugchilan to Quilotoa
Today we have a full day of adrenaline, beautiful landscapes, and lots of fun. After an early traditional breakfast, we will cross the Andes on horseback riding, a relaxed pace we will go to the Quilotoa Lagoon, which was formed by the eruption of a volcano. If we are lucky we will see the snow-capped peaks of the surrounding volcanoes such as Cotopaxi or Ilinizas.
We will spend our morning in Chugchilan visiting an educative institution associated to our Educative Foundation. We will spend our afternoon reading, talking with people at our hostel, walking in the village or resting after half part of our hard trip travelling around the Andes Mountains.
Day 8: Heading to Baños and adventure
Early in the morning we will depart from Chugchilan to Baños, a small town located on the slopes of the Tungurahua volcano, which has become the obligatory stop for those who want to visit the Amazon. After lunch we will walk to the viewpoint of Baños, we will have to climb an endless staircase that almost from the beginning of the walk offers us a beautiful view of the city. The view will be wonderful and a good opportunity to take good pictures.
Day 9: Educational visit and walk to the viewpoint
We will spend our morning in Baños visiting an educative institution associated to our Educative Foundation. We will get lunch in the city and will spend our afternoon in a small trip to Pailon del Diablo, one of the most beautiful natural waterfalls of our country! It will be our amazing last day at this lovely place!
Day 10: Riobamba La Sultana de los Andes
After a well-deserved rest and a breakfast in Baños we will depart to Riobamba. Riobamba is known as “La Sultana de Los Andes”, because it is located in the foothills of Chimborazo, the highest snow-capped peak in Ecuador, a city located in the center of our territory, its perfect geographical location makes it a viewpoint Natural from where you can see Chimborazo, Carihuayrazo, Altar, etc.
Day 11: Train ride to La Nariz del Diablo – Visit to Cuenca
After an early breakfast, we will head to another indigenous point in Ecuador, we continue our adventure to Alausí where we will take the train to Sibambe passing by a hill known as La Naríz del Diablo. After lunch we will get a little more relaxed we will start the trip to Cuenca the Athens of Ecuador and our next destination.
Day 12: Discovering Cuenca
Our last day will start with a delicious breakfast and then we will visit an educational institution associated with our Educative Foundation. After lunch we will participate in a tour to discover this beautiful lovely city through the cobbled streets, its churches and its famous hat museums in the city. Finally, at nightfall, we will return by bus to the city of Quito.
