Share your experience and work alongside all the volunteers who want to collaborate with the education of the developing country while exploring Ecuador. Wake up in the middle of the mountains, feel the cold air brush your cheeks, ascend and descend from each plateau, travel by train in the middle of the hills that connect two different regions, visit markets, viewpoints and enjoy the wonderful experience that you are going to live. in a world where humans coexist with nature in the middle of the Amazon jungle.

Itinerary

Day 1: City tour Quito – Mitad del Mundo

We will walk through beautiful streets full of history, legend and tradition. We will observe its balconies, facades and churches in the city that maintains the best preserved heritage on the continent, then we will put our feet right at the junction of the northern hemisphere with the southern hemisphere, in the incredible city Mitad del Mundo.

Day 2: Teleférico de Quito – Otavalo

The Quito cable car is one of the most impressive viewpoints in the city. At the same time that we walk through nature, we will be able to admire an incredible city that rises at our feet from above. Then we will visit Otavalo, the first or second most recommended destination to meet in Latin America.

Day 3: Educative visit & Cuicocha

Educative visit in Cotacachi which is a quiet city surrounded by mountains, known for the handmade leather articles, thanks to this work it earned the name of the leather city. Nearby to Cotacachi we find Laguna de Ciucocha, an impressive place. We will walk around the lake enjoying wonderful landscapes and learning about local history and culture.

Day 4: Peguche – Machachi

In the morning we will make a beautiful walk to the sacred waterfall of Peguche and after lunch we will leave for Machachi located in the middle of the Andes, this place has a cold climate and is surrounded by mountains and volcanoes. From our lodging we will be able to observe landscapes that extend full of cultuvo and mountains that climb over the clouds until they touch the sky.

Day 5: Visit “El Boliche” – Walk in the Andean forest

After a beautiful sunrise and delegates with the landscape of the Ruta de Los Volcanes, we will go near the area where the “El Boliche” National Recreation Area and the Cotopaxi National Park are located, two impressive natural senses, where you can observe deer, rabbits, llamas, alpacas as well as the flora and fauna.

Day 6: Trip to Chugchilan

With the first rays of the sun above us, we will continue our journey to Latacunga, where we will take a bus to Chugchilan, a small town located in the middle of the Andes. The tour will be impressive because for a couple of hours we will be crossing the mountains above their peaks. Chugchilan is a small town with very friendly people dedicated to the work of the fields. It will be an excellent opportunity to meet humble people with a giant heart.

Day 7: Horseback riding from Chugchilan to Quilotoa

After sunrise we will go on horseback from Chugchilan to Quilotoa. The Quilotoa lagoon is known as the lagoon of the gods and is distinguished by a particular greenish-blue color that changes several times a day due to the fumaroles that exist inside it. As we cross the Andes, we can observe the high peaks that surround this beautiful place, meet the local people and delight in the scenery.

Day 8: From Chugchilan to Riobamba

After a visit to an educational center of this beautiful place, we will leave for the Sultana de los Andes, Riobamba. This city located right in the center of our country is considered as a natural viewpoint because from here you can see mountains and snowcapped of the Andes. We will have a city tour and will walk through its lovely streets, we will visit the train station and we will prepare to continue with our program.

Day 9: Educative visit & Guano village

After breakfast we will leave to Guano, a beautiful small indigenous village located near the city of Riobamba, here we will visit an educational center and then we will visit the town, we will walk to the traditional bakeries famous for producing the “Cholas de Guano” a delight for local people and visitors, we will go to the Guano museum and go up to the viewpoint, later we will return to Riobamba to tour its streets and prepare for our next day.

Day 10: Travel by train through the “Devil’s Nose”

Almost 2 hours driving, 95.5 km away from Riobamba is Alausí, a small town located in the Andes mountain range towards the south of Ecuador, here we have the station of the impressive Ecuador train that will take us to live a different railway experience, as it will pass down a hill known as “Devil’s Nose”. Before continuing with our tour we will visit the town and possibly an educational center of this indigenous city.

Day 11: From Alausi to Baños de Agua Santa

After Alausí, we will continue with our trip this time to the Amazon, but before we must go through the city of Baños de Agua Santa, this quiet place located in the middle of a valley of waterfalls and hot springs that are born from the highest mountains and volcanoes . that surround the city is known as the gateway to the Amazon. Baños is a small city vibrating with commercial movement almost until midnight.

Day 12: Adventure on the outskirts of the city

Before starting this wonderful day, we will visit one of the educational centers of the city, then we will begin our trip in “Chiva” towards the waterfall known as the Pailón del Diablo, a paradisiacal place full of energy and natural beauty. During the tour we will be able to observe the natural landscape and we will see how the vegetation of the Andes changes towards an Amazon vegetation.

Day 13: Educative center – viewpoint of Baños

Our morning in Baños starts early with our breakfast and then visits a local educational center. After lunch we will walk down some steps towards the viewpoint of Baños. If you like walking in the mountains, this is a good opportunity, but if you have problems or walk slowly, there is no problem because the beauty of the city begins to be admired from the few minutes after the tour started.

Day 14: Free day to rest and recharge

Baños is a very quiet and beautiful place, walking its streets, visiting its restaurants, daring to hire a day of adventure in local tourism shops is a very tempting option. It can also be ideal only to dedicate a full day to rest and recharge. This will be our day off and we will be able to dedicate our time to each of us, as we wish. If you wanted to have a day just for yourself, this is your day!

Day 15: From Baños to Misahualli

Today our journey to the Amazon jungle begins. After enjoying Baños, we continue our journey to Misahualli, it is a small town where the Misahualli river meets the Napo river, we will find a lush and mysterious landscape. Monkeys can be seen in the trees of the park and on the banks of the river. The people of this place live on tourism, fishing and agriculture. Misahualli is also one of the first exit points for the indigenous people of the jungle towards the big cities.

Day 16: Walking in he Amazon Jungle – Inner tubing

This will be a full day in the Amazon jungle. After breakfast we will start with a canoe tour for almost an hour, then we will walk through the jungle, our naturalist guide will take us and explain us about the jungle, the flora and fauna. Then we will do an inner tubing through the Napo river for approximately one hour and after lunch we will visit a wild animal rescue center located in the heart of the jungle. Our return to Misahualli will be a little long and we will finish our day almost at dusk.

Day 17: Trip to Tena

After our breakfast and a short walk through the town we will continue to Tena, the main business center of the surrounding indigenous peoples. Tena has become a beautiful indigenous city, during the day you can see a city busy in its local businesses and in its tourist offerings, but at night, this illuminated city shows us an unbeatable tranquility, walking through the streets and parks and Going up to the viewpoint feels very relaxing.

Day 18: Jumandy Caverns

Very close to the city of Tena are the Caves of Jumandí in a historical site where the indigenous warrior Jumandy is in his camp in resistance to the Spanish conquest, here you can see the underground water currents and the spectacular stalactites and stalagmites where we can swim. You dare! After visiting this place, we continue our journey to Tena where we can explore the city and the local educational center.

Day 19: Papallacta Hot Springs

At our last stop, we have reserved for you a fabulous place, where you can relax surrounded by mountains and vegetation. Papallacta is a small town located still in the Napo province, part of the amazon Jungle but at 3200 meters above of the sea level in the Antisana Ecological Reserve. Here we will enjoy natural hot springs that contain a high percentage of minerals beneficial to health.
